At the end of October Nvidia introduced its GeForce 8800 GT, based on the brand new G92 GPU, making most of the G80 lineup obsolete by offering better performance at lower prices. The problem is that the highly sought-after card has been in such short supply that prices have inflated as a result.

In light of this, Nvidia is currently in negotiations with TSMC to increase G92 wafer orders for next year. According to DigiTimes, in order for Nvidia to have smooth supply in the first quarter of 2008, the company needs to increase orders of silicon wafers by 15% compared to the fourth quarter of this year.
