Intel's X48 chipset launch to be delayed?
Although originally due to appear next month, Intel may postpone the release of its upcoming X48 chipset by a month or two because one unnamed major motherboard maker still holds a large volume of X38 chipsets and fears that the X48 will slow down clearance of its predecessor, according to a report by DigiTimes.
However, there are also manufacturers with no Intel chipset overstock, which may be negatively affected by the decision. Intel did not comment on the report though. X48-based boards will reportedly include DDR3 1600 memory support, PCI Express 2.0 bus with multi-GPU technology capability and other performance improvements, such as Intel XMP (extreme memory profile) technology, to automatically optimize performance on memory modules that support XMP.
