AMD reached out to enthusiasts today by releasing a new AMD Phenom 9600+ Black Edition quad-core processor with full access to clock multiplier control, allowing overclockers to customize its performance using AMD's OverDrive utility directly from Windows. Nevertheless, AMD stressed that it is not responsible for damages caused by overclocking, even when overclocking is enabled with its OverDrive software.

The newest Black Edition processor will operate at the same 2.30GHz clock-speed as the recently launched AMD Phenom 9600 quad-core processor and, although it provides increased value and expanded customization options, the price will remain the same at $283 in 1000-unit quantities.
