Vonage, AT&T finalize settlement over patent infringement
Vonage just announced it has finalized its patent-suit settlement with AT&T. No terms were disclosed in the scant press release, but previous reports indicated that the general terms being discussed by the parties would require Vonage to pay $39 million over five years.
Vonage has spent most of the year fighting off patent infringement suits from telecom giants. In recent months, Vonage also settled a patent dispute with Verizon for $120 million, and another with Sprint for $80 million. But hard times are far from over for the struggling internet phone company as it is now involved in another legal squabble with telecommunications equipment maker Nortel Networks.
