Vonage settles patent fight with Nortel
Internet phone company Vonage cleared its last pending legal challenge on Monday after agreeing to settle a patent dispute with Nortel Networks. This time, however, Vonage won’t have to write a big, fat check. The settlement involves cross-licensing three patents from the portfolios of each involving 911, 411 and click-to-call features, and neither company will make monetary payments to the other.
The latest settlement closed a difficult and litigious year for Vonage, which has previously been sued by AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint Nextel, and has had to pay over $200 million in damages to the three telecom firms.
