Skype support coming to the PSP

Sony has let slip in its CES 2008 website that the company plans to add Skype functionality under the PSP’s features, stating that users can “call friends, talk trash to fellow gamers, or catch up with acquaintances via Skype for PSP system.”

Details of just how the VoIP service will be used with the PSP remain scarce, but Sony is expected to come up with more information about Skype on the PSP at this year’s CES in La Vegas, which will take place from January 7 to 10.

Last year Sony announced the Go!Messenger service for the PSP in European territories, which is expected to launch this month and will enable gamers to make video calls, voice calls and send instant messages wherever they’ve got a Wi-Fi connection. It remains unclear how these plans relate to Sony’s Skype announcement.
