PC sales see 15% increase in 2007
For several years, PC sales have declined as notebook sales have risen. It is inevitable that mobiles will likely completely take over the personal computing market, but overall the actual demand for computers got a very interesting boost at the end of last year. Shipments for companies like Dell and HP saw significant boosts, enough to see an overall double-digit increase in the number of PCs sold.
Overall, a 15.5% increase has been measured, something that is the exact opposite of what you'd expect from a market that industry analysts have been expecting to dip due to lower demand in the U.S. Several reasons are cited such as new ventures from Dell and Acer, including the former entering into the retail space. Other moves from companies like Asus have to be helping too, with them actively trying to reach the low-end price points.
