AMD promises 45nm CPUs in 2H 2008

AMD has a lot of work cut out for them, with Intel having them beat in many areas. One area they have lagged behind considerably is the launch of 45nm processors, and all the benefits that go along with them. AMD is claiming that the AM2+ socket 45nm CPUs are coming soon, in the latter half of 2008. They also claim that the process reduction will let them greatly increase clock frequencies on their CPUs, which for the most part is something that Intel has not yet done.

They'll pair the launch with DDR2 and DDR3 support later down the road, but it may be too late for them to wow anybody with 45nm. That said, I am still looking forward to their future product launches.

  1. AMD is not wow me yet with their current lineup of processors, if they want to get back on track, they will need to do so soon because Intel is closing the door on them really fast.
