Canonical pushes Parallels Workstation to desktops

Canonical, a company who makes their bread doing commercial support for Ubuntu, has a lot of faith in the Parallels Workstation. So much, in fact, that they are pushing Parallels out via a desktop update, marking a key point in which commercial software is now being supplied by them to their customers. It doesn't mean their customers are being forced to pay anything – but it might make buying the software easier. Parallels is yet another hot ticket item in the virtualization world, and last month they announced that they'd be stepping into hypervisor realm.

The biggest advantage for Canonicals customers is if they want to step into virtualization and are warm to the idea of using Parallels, they can use the “friendly” Ubuntu interface versus manual installation. It may not be all that terrific now, but it does demonstrate how the virtualization market is beginning to heat up.
