Buffalo introduces 500GB USB LinkStation Mini

With hard drive manufacturers beginning to creep out 500GB mobile units, such as Fujitsu and Samsung, retailers were bound to start offering the behemoth units in ready-to-go little packages.

Buffalo is introducing a 500GB USB MiniStation unit, offering increased transfer speeds due to the higher density of the disk and of course a lot more space than most USB portable units. At an introductory cost of $329, it would make more sense for techies to just buy their own USB enclosures and slap one together, but that $329 also gets you a shock-resistant case and “SecureLockWare” data protection. They also pitch their backup software, such as the ones just about all storage vendors are offering with these prebuilt units. The day when a terabyte of data in your back pocket is possible is quickly approaching.
