In the past few days we brought you news of upcoming “Eee PC killers” from the likes of HP, Acer and ECS. Now, it looks like there’s yet another entrant to the cheap, tiny notebook market as MSI has quietly shown off a new Eee rival at the CeBIT show.

Dubbed the MSI Wind, this notebook will apparently feature an eight or ten inch screen with a 1024x768 resolution, and a choice of either a solid state disk or 2.5-inch hard disk drive. In addition, the laptop is said to be powered by Intel’s Atom processors – which allow for clock speeds between 1GHz and 1.5GHz – sport 1GB of RAM, your choice of Windows or Linux, and a claimed battery life of no less than seven hours.

Though the Wind is still in the prototype phase at the moment and there’s no word on a release date just yet, it is expected to be priced anywhere between €299 ($458) and €699 ($1072) when it launches, depending on options chosen.

  1. could be interesting... but, as a reseller i STILL cant get my hands on even a single unit of the Eee PC.. which is mighty annoying, hope they can actually keep up with demand on these....www.darkcat.co.uk
