Madden NFL 09 won't make it to the PC

By on April 3, 2008, 3:20 PM
EA Sports president Peter Moore confirmed on his blog this week that the next iteration of the popular NFL game franchise Madden won't be coming to the PC, adding that the company is aware that the decision could be an unpopular one "in some circles" but nevertheless they are seeing more and more the trend of gamers preferring consoles for playing sports games.

The decision does not come as a surprise, and it's our opinion it doesn't necessarily reflect on the so-called "death" of PC gaming. As a primarily PC publication, we have to agree with Mr. Moore in that sports games like Madden are better suited to the couch and big screen TV, while there are other sports titles and game genres that are still a good fit for the PC.

Moore also added: "We do have ideas for how to revitalize the PC for sports games and the types of games that are best suited to the platform, and we’ll continue to explore those."

Its doesn't bother me much that EA Sports games like Madden will no longer be offered on the PC. EA Sports doesn't do a good job with their PC versions anyway, for example the NHL 2008 is just a PS2 port with just updated rosters and no new features like its console cousins. EA Sports can stop producing PC games all together because there are much better games for the computer to be played.
