Ubuntu 8.04 final released
For all Ubuntu fanatics or curious onlookers out there, you will want to know Ubuntu 8.04 has left beta and gone gold. The new iteration of the infamous Linux distro is now available for download, bringing with it a host of upgrades and improvements to make the desktop experience more friendly and the server side more robust.
Bundled with this release is new software like the Beta 5 of Firefox 3, quite a surprising choice for a non-beta OS release, though in our experience this Beta is just as stable (but faster) than the latest Firefox 2 browser. Also included is an updated version of the OpenOffice suite, Xorg 7.3 and a lot more. It was just about a month ago that the beta came out. It's quite clear that the Ubuntu development group is being less than shy about their milestone releases.
