Citing their usual anonymous industry sources, DigiTimes claims AMD is increasing its ties with TSMC by outsourcing CPU production to the contract chip giant in the second half of this year. The Taiwanese company already handles some of AMD's GPU production since May last year, but has supposedly been entrusted with the task of manufacturing AMD's upcoming Fusion CPUs as well.

AMD also currently farms out some microprocessor orders to Singapore's Chartered Semiconductor Manufacturing, in addition to producing chips at its own factories. This would mark the company's latest move to focus its efforts on developing chips instead of manufacturing them in order to cut overhead costs as it struggles to keep its head above water.
