Ubuntu is set to expand its horizons very soon, with the announcement that their mobile version of the infamous Linux desktop suite is nearing completion. As it stands, Canonical claims that Netbook Remix, an iteration of Ubuntu aimed at mobile devices, will be available within two weeks, sometime in early June. This information with a lot of other interesting tidbits regarding Ubuntu was revealed in a recent interview with Mark Shuttleworth.
He claims they are working with Intel on the project, which probably means it is going to be designed around an XSCALE platform or other. Interestingly, regarding the state of the company, it was revealed that they are not actually breaking even in terms of raking in cash right now. The introduction of the platform on mobile devices might be a gateway to more paid customers for them, such as hardware manufacturers looking for software to pair with mobile devices.
