Yahoo's free online email service is to begin offering users two new email domains, ymail.com and rocketmail.com, in addition to its familiar @yahoo.com handle. With hundreds of millions of user names already tapped out at yahoo.com, the move is aimed at giving users the chance to grab a short, easy to recall email addresses instead of them having to settle with common monikers with long strings of numbers.

Accounts created with the new domain names will use the same Yahoo! Mail interface and features, which include unlimited storage, instant messaging and text messaging. As part of the launch, a special page on eBay has been set up to auction off special email addresses and give the proceeds to charitable organizations - though as of this writing the page remains unavailable.
