Hardware
AMD ATI HD Radeon 4870 X2 due this month
Things might be looking bad for Nvidia at the moment, what with a massive stock decline, less than expected revenues and defective hardware to deal with, but the opposite is true for AMD. The Radeon HD 4800 series is being well-received so far, and AMD has plans to offer even more of the cards very soon. The Radeon HD 4870 X2, a dual-GPU monster aimed at the hardcore gamer and enthusiast crowd, is supposed to be here before the end of this month.
The high-end (and high-priced, at around $499) card should sport up to 2GB of GDDR5 memory, an impressive amount by anyone’s estimates, and judging by the performance stats of the other 4800 series cards will be a great performer.

Nvidia may have the better hardware but AMD are doing better at the moment :S I'm rather keen to see this 4 series X2 in action

ATI are being rather awesome at the moment. Nvidia are slightly better, yes, but their prices are ridiculous. Can just get an ATI card; yeah you might get 3 FPS less in-game, but you're paying like $200 less =/ Either way, dammit... I bought a 3870 X2 a month ago, should have waited >< 2GB DDR5 is looking tastey

but their prices are ridiculous. this is what happens when there's no competition. Companies like this will obviously try and charge more since they have no rival as was the case with ati. Its really the consumer that will lose in the end if one company was to fall. All this nvidia vs ati crap is garbage because in the end neither ATI or Nvidia give a crap about you. Only whats in there wallets. Very sad.
