Opera is looking to impart education, at least for web standards, with a new initiative they are deploying. The company will support web standards education in colleges, universities and businesses around the world, with the aim of encouraging quality code production that adheres modern standards. A lofty goal, but Opera clearly thinks they have it under control.
The program includes educational material for CSS development, HTML development, web design concepts and theory along with more. They pitch it not only as a good starting point for education in schools, but also for businesses that do internal development and want to promote good coding practices.
This is a good idea, from a certain standpoint - a lot of the problem with browser incompatibility today can be traced to multiple standards being pushed simultaneously, along with standards being updated whereas the pages that use them were not.
