Storm Worm pops up again

The next resurgence of the Storm Worm is making its rounds, and as many people have discovered it is using a new tactic to try and convince people to infect themselves. The newest iteration has several web pages hosted online that try and spread rumors of war, promising an interesting video to back the claim. Of course, the links all lead to an executable which is sure to infect anyone who falls to the ruse. Given that all modern browsers give you some very stern warnings about launching executables and most good techies should know better, hopefully the scope of this attack will be limited.

The Storm Worm has had an interesting history since it was initially discovered. It has been examined thoroughly and has spawned many iterations of itself the past few years. This is all exactly what an AppRiver tech told us would happen in an interview with TechSpot early last year. Good education is the best defense against these sorts of attacks.
