FBI warns of new Storm worm variant
The Storm worm has mutated again, according to recent reports, with the FBI issuing a warning this week. You might ask what the FBI is doing issuing warnings about Internet worms. The reasoning for their warning stems from the fact that the new variant of the Storm worm is using them in the subject line of emails to entice people into opening and clicking on links.
A terribly unoriginal tactic, as many have used it before including other variants of Storm itself, ranging from fake YouTube links to using politics. The FBI has a secondary interest in preventing people from getting infected as a way to cut down on bots which they have been struggling with for years.
