Sony recently published another firmware update for the Sony PlayStation 3. The update came hot on the heels of version 2.41, which itself came quickly after the 2.40 firmware debacle that left many gamers stuck with a bricked console.

You'd expect Sony to be more cautious with regards to the quality of their updates but, sadly, it appears that the latest 2.42 firmware is once again causing problems for users. The complaints aren't quite as severe as the last time, but PS3 owners are reporting a variety of issues ranging from Blu-ray discs not playing to not being able to get online functionality to work.

There hasn't been an official reply from Sony on this matter just yet, but if the reports are indeed accurate then we'll probably see a 2.43 update much sooner than later in order to fix these issues.
