Mac clone maker Open Tech up for sale

It's been roughly a month since Open Tech announced its own line of Mac OS X-compatible PCs, but already the company is putting itself up for sale. For only $50,000 interested parties will not only acquire the company’s name and “trade secrets,” but also the potential to have a multi-million dollar lawsuit filed against them.

Open Tech was following the footsteps of Mac clone maker Psystar – which is currently being sued by Apple – but hoped to evade legal hassles by merely selling systems along with a “do-it-yourself” kit for users to install Mac OS X on them. It's not clear if Open Tech has sold or shipped any computers yet. According to their website, the payment can be made only through PayPal, which in conjunction with the low price tag suggest that the company was in fact a small venture with no long-term intentions.
