Broadband caps could make it on the US

The download caps, which were introduced by Telstra - and were almost unique to Australian broadband providers earlier this year - are not yet widely seen overseas. But there have been recent reports of US providers considering the pricing regime.
AT&T Broadband and Comcast are two providers looking at applying download caps. The two received approval to merge last week, creating the largest broadband provider in the US.

Canadian broadband provider Sympatico, owned by Bell Canada, sparked concern among some of its customers by introducing a 5Gb "bit cap" before making any metering tool available for users to check the amount of data they had downloaded.
