EA to ban players from games for misbehaving in forums?

In what would be a rather controversial move, it’s being said that Electronic Arts has tied together their forum and in-game accounts, so that anyone that misbehaves on their forums and gets banned might also be locked out of their purchased EA games as well – all of them.

This according to a forum post from moderator eaapoc, who said people should “play nice and act mature,” adding that while it’s easy to create a new forum account, it’s a lot harder to get a new serial key for your games. I’m all for banning troublesome members and certainly value the effort of those watching over a game's (or any other) official forum, but frankly, I doubt EA will block access to software you legally purchased because of a questionable forum violation. Hopefully the company will come out with an official statement regarding this matter.
