New cheap eBook Reader from Foxit (the free PDF reader) Amazon's Kindle electronic book reader costs $359--but you can't get one until at least February. Sony's PRS-700BC costs $399--also pretty darn costly. But Foxit Software will soon begin shipping an eBook reader that costs only slightly more than half what Sony's reader does. PC World.

Valve offers S.T.A.L.K.E.R. for $5 In case you missed the news late yesterday, THQ and Valve are offering the original S.T.A.L.K.E.R. game for a mere $5. Considering the game is not yet even two years old, it's certainly a good deal if you're a FPS fan. TechSpot News.

Microsoft Extends XP Availability For Distributors A Microsoft spokesperson confirmed the existence of a flexible inventory program that will allow distributors to place their final orders for Windows XP OEM licenses by Jan. 31, 2009, and take delivery against those orders through May 30. Hands On With The Intel Convertible Classmate From the outset, Intel's goal with the Classmate line was to create a cheap, durable laptop that could be useful in a classroom. As such, Intel gave the Classmate tablet an 8.9-inch touchpanel, 1.6 GHz Atom processor, 802.11n wi-fi, 1 GB RAM, a 60 GB HDD (or up to 8 GB of flash storage), a days worth of battery life and a weight under three pounds.
