Sling Media founders to leave the company

Sling Media announced today that they've lost five members of its top executive team, including co-founders Blake and Jason Krikorian. The move comes a year after the company was acquired by EchoStar Technologies for $380 million and tension with the new owners seems to be the cause. In addition to the Krikorians, others leaving the company include entertainment executives Jason Hirschhorn and Ben White, as well as sales executive Greg Wilkes.

What does this mean for Sling? It is probably too early to tell but the company no doubt garnered its share of attention in recent months, with announcements of both a BlackBerry and iPhone app, the launch of its online content service sling.com and a new SlingPlayer software that will finally enable HD streaming on the Mac. Certainly, there’s plenty to look forward to, but many will be worried that Sling’s entrepreneurial leadership is walking away.
