Facebook introduces Windows Mobile app

Facebook’s mobile horizons are expanding, with the introduction of an application specifically designed for Windows Mobile devices. Formerly only accessible through third-party means, Facebook on Windows Mobile now has official support for anyone using version 6 or newer of the operating system. Unlike the version available for mobile web browsers, the application will support a wide range of features, one of the most notable being the ability to upload video clips to a Facebook account directly from the phone.

Tighter mobile integration will only help Facebook's twenty million users grow, especially since mobiles are the obvious choice for social networking expansion. One must also consider whether changes like these will affect other services, such as Twitter, which currently achieve at least some of their popularity through their ease of use in a mobile environment.
