Asus hard at work on USB 3.0-packing motherboard

Asus’ new motherboard will support Intel’s Core i7 CPUs and will house six DDR3 DIMM slots, three PCI-E 2.0 slots, dual Ethernet, four USB 2.0 and two 3.0 ports. There's no information regarding a potential release date or price just yet, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see it before the holiday season.

Could be due to the USB 3.0 controller capabilities or lack thereof. |

The same reason why we had USB 1.1 and 2.0 together originally. The previous version is cheaper. |

The chipset does not support USB 3.0 so a dual port controller has been added in. |
