Toshiba has introduced the Qosmio X500 gaming laptop, which is one of the company's first Blu-ray-equipped products to market. The X500 is perfectly suited for desktop replacement, with its 18.4" 1080p HD display, 2.8GHz Intel Core i7, up to 8GB of DDR3 1066MHz RAM, and a 1GB Nvidia GeForce GTS 250MNV.

Additional specifications include up to 1TB of HDD space (dual 500GB 5400RPM drives), a Blu-ray writer, 802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1, three USB 2.0 ports that can charge mobile devices when the laptop is off, one USB/eSATA combo port, and five-in-one card reader. I couldn't find how heavy the X500 is, but it's obviously no featherweight – just something to keep in mind.

A price hasn't been disclosed yet, but it's fair to assume that it won't be cheap. Toshiba is preparing to launch their new desktop replacement in the UK late next month – which is around the time that Windows 7 will debut.
