Steam has rolled out its weekend sale, marking 50% off Gearbox Software's Borderlands, for a total price of $24.99 or $74.98 for the four pack. Released last October, the game is a unique mash-up of sci-fi FPS and action-RPG. While you engage enemies in a familiar FPS style, role-playing elements sprinkled throughout, such as character building and quests.

You begin by choosing one of four mercenaries, which each have their own skill sets and special abilities. Once in the game, you take on quests via NPCs and bounty boards to accumulate experience, money, and items. Since its launch, there have been three official DLC packs for Borderlands, called The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned, Mad Moxxi's Underdome Riot, and The Secret Armory of General Knoxx.

The game's reception has been positive with most reviewers giving it between an 8 and 9 out of 10. That said, it's worth noting that the PC version is generally accepted as the worst, mostly for feeling too much like a console port. Borderlands has pretty modest system requirements, such as a 2.4GHz P4 CPU, a GeForce 8600 GS or Radeon HD 3000-series GPU, and 1GB of RAM.
