G.Skill has added three new storage capacities to its Phoenix Pro series of solid-state drives. The new models are available in 40GB, 80GB and 160GB variants, and join the existing 60GB, 120GB and 240GB units that were released in June. They all pair the same SF-1200 controller from SandForce with multi-level cell (MLC) NAND flash memory and a custom firmware, so performance should remain intact across the entire range regardless of their size.

The company quotes maximum read and write speeds of 285 MB/s and 275 MB/s, respectively, for the drives and claims they are capable of performing up to 50,000 IOPS with random 4KB writes. G. Skill touts the 40GB model as "the perfect boot drive for desktop and PC gaming enthusiasts," and even throws in a CrystalDiskMark 3 benchmark showing a pair of them in a RAID 0 setup achieving a very impressive sequential read speed of 328.5MB/s.

We don't have any details on pricing or availability just yet, but expect the new drives to be arrive in the coming weeks with the same three-year warranty as their predecessors. The current 60GB, 120GB and 240GB models are available through online retailers priced at $164, $279, and $599 respectively.
