Nvidia's allocation nightmare

While NVIDIA has told its partners not to disclose any information on shipment details other than the known late Feb. availability date, the worst is to be expected.

We have already heard of most boards going only out on pre-orders and few, if any, on retail shelves... so you better order one now if you were one of those bidding for Voodoo5 6000 cards a while ago, just for the sake of collecting 'exotic' 3d cards that didn't go out in mass production.

[...] there's an allocation of 2,000 cards for the US, 1400 for the European Union and a measly 750 for the whole of Asia. And Terratec, Creative, PNY, BFG, Gainward, Leadtek, Asus, and MSI will all have to share this generous amount between themselves.
