Intel to increase prices, AMD follows

By

Both Intel and AMD would slightly increase processor prices by tomorrow according to The Inq. Something we find quite unusual in today’s CPU market, a week of poor demand would be the reason for taking such measure. The decision that was first taken by Intel and then followed by AMD, should have no impact in the long-run, according to the article; such new pricing may last no more than a week hopefully.

  1. That just seems strange to me, wasn't it about a month ago that they both dropped their prices? I understand it is only for a week or so, but it seems they need to just settle down and leave the market alone :)
  2. Raising prices certainly is not going to increase demand, unless they are trying to make up for the loss by stiffening the prices a bit.
