Silicon Integrated Systems (SiS) on April 16 announced that it has signed an agreement with Intel, obtaining technology licensing for the 800MHz FSB (front-side bus) standard used in Intel’s new-generation Pentium 4 processors and chipsets.

With the agreement, SiS is now the second chipset designer to acquire the technology license, following VIA Technologies, which gained the same right in a settlement with Intel on April 7.
The chipset designer did not release further details about the agreement. However, according to sources, the terms are not only better than those SiS received on 533MHz FSB licensing, but also as favorable as VIA’s deal with Intel.
