Got an extra $99 and a Samsung phone? You can now pre-order the consumer version of Samsung's Gear VR at Best Buy. If you pre-order, you'll get the headset after the November 20th release date. The headset supports Netflix, Hulu, Twitch and Vimeo streaming. You will have to wait if you want to stream from TiVo.

UPDATE: The original story stated that the Gear VR comes with a 16GB microSD card. That was misreported on the Best Buy product page and is not true.

The cost of the headset is $99, which sounds pretty cheap, but keep in mind you need to also have one of the compatible phones, that include the Galaxy Note5, Galaxy S6 edge+, Galaxy S6 edge, and Galaxy S6. Best Buy's website says that the Galaxy S6 edge+ and Galaxy Note 5 will require a software update from your carrier to use the Gear VR.

Internal sensors track your head movement while wearing the headset, and the smartphone is used for its screen and processing power. Gaming-wise, the Gear VR will be able play "dozens of new made-for-VR games" headed to the Oculus platform this year, including CCP's Gunjack and Ustwo Games' Lands End.

Compared to the Innovator Edition version that's been available for some time, the new consumer-version Gear VR is 19 percent lighter, includes a new foam cushioning to make it more comfy to wear, and brings improvements to the touchpad for greater control and easier navigation.
