Longtime ToeJam & Earl fans were no doubt thrilled when indie developer Humanature Studios launched a Kickstarter campaign last year to create a new game in the franchise based on the original. Even more exciting is the fact that the campaign reached its funding goal, bringing in just over a half a million bucks (it only needed $400,000).

Lots of progress has been made on the game since early 2015. The culmination of the work put in thus far arrived earlier today in the form of a new teaser for ToeJam and Earl: Back in the Grove on YouTube.

The graphics styling looks a little different than what we saw in the Kickstarter - not bad, mind you, just different.

As the story goes, ToeJam and Earl decide to "borrow" the Rapmaster Rocketship to impress Latisha and Lewanda. While out for a joy ride, ToeJam tells Earl to "press the RED button" which of course is labeled, "Black Hole - Do Not Press!!" Chaos ensues and the two protagonists once again find themselves searching for pieces of their ship, just like in the original.

Back in the Groove is said to combine the best features of the classic console games with a huge helping of new features.

ToeJam and Earl: Back in the Groove will land on PC and consoles next year.
