Netflix is rebooting yet another childhood staple as the streaming specialist has ordered an animated series based on the popular Carmen Sandiego franchise from the 1980s and '90s.

The title character, Variety reports, will be voiced by Gina Rodriguez who won a Golden Globe in 2015 for her role in the CW series Jane the Virgin. The actress also appeared in Deepwater Horizon alongside Mark Wahlberg and will star in Annihilation later this year.

Variety says the series will be based on the iconic educational franchise which, if you remember, followed villain Sandiego as she travelled the world to steal national treasures. The franchise served as the basis for several games, books and comics for children.

There were even a few television game shows; the original was designed for children ages 8-12 with a heavy focus on geography. The one thing that stands out most about the original show is just how difficult it was.

Netflix has ordered 20 episodes that'll run 22 minutes in length each. It'll be co-executive produced by Duane Capizzi who will also serve as showrunner. CJ Kettler has signed on to executive produce the series, we're told. Finn Wolfhard of Stranger Things fame will voice Sandiego's accomplice and friend, Player.

Netflix has had a lot of success with reboots as of late. Examples that immediately come to mind include Fuller House, Mystery Science Theater 3000 and Lost in Space, just to name a few.
