Seagate makes its rivals sit up and take note with the Pro 4. It has a nicely minimalist design, is well made, fast and very well priced. Synology’s more expensive DS415 Plus and DS414 offer more for a bigger outlay, but if you are on a budget the Pro 4 is tough to beat.
Solid performance, an attractive feature set, and Seagate's SimplyRAID technology render its 4-bay NAS a good deal for most small businesses, but the absence of locking drive trays could be a deal breaker.
The Seagate NAS Pro line is a NAS that is powerful enough for a small to medium business that needs a fair amount of performance with a device that is easy to use.
Despite the missing features and required performance optimization, we believe Seagate's renewed focus will prove beneficial in expanding their presence in the SMB market. Pricing is also very aggressive, a welcome surprise given that this is the first COTS NAS lineup utilizing the new Atom SoCs.
