Benchmarks: Just Cause 2

Using the Just Cause 2 built-in benchmark we recorded 96 seconds of the "Dark Tower" level. When testing with Just Cause 2 we find that the single GPU Radeon HD 5870 configuration is actually faster than the GeForce GTX 480 at 2560x1600 with 8xAA/16xAF enabled. With a 6fps advantage the Radeon HD 5870 has a reasonable performance lead*.

When adding a second Radeon graphics card to create a Crossfire configuration the performance is boosted by just 56%. While a 56% performance boost saw the average frame rate hit 64fps, it still allowed the GeForce SLI setup to take the lead.

The GeForce GTX 480 SLI graphics cards provided a 94% performance boost compared to a single GPU. Although this meant that the GeForce GTX 480 SLI were just 6% faster than the Radeon HD 5870 Crossfire cards it is still another win for the green team.

* Given our previous experience testing with Just Cause 2, we made sure no Nvidia-specific features were enabled so that comparison was apples to apples from scratch.
