Power Consumption & Temperatures

Power consumption figures for the GeForce GTX 580 are a welcome surprise as we measured an entire system draw of 451 watts under full load. This is down from the GTX 480's 473-watt consumption, a remarkable improvement considering the 580's added performance.

While the GTX 580's power levels are a nice advancement, we saw the biggest change in operating temperature. Under full load, the GeForce GTX 580 reached just 81 degrees, making it even cooler than the Radeon HD 5830. That's hard to believe in itself, but it's made even more impressive by the fact that the GeForce GTX 580 remained relatively quiet when stress testing.
