Looking at power consumption levels, the GeForce 9800 GTX fits in alongside the 8800 GTS 512, consuming roughly the same amount of power. This is not at all surprising given they are both built around the G92 core and use similar clock specifications.

The GeForce 9800 GTX was found to be a relatively cool and quiet high-end graphics card, particularly when compared to past high-end products from both ATI and Nvidia. A stress temperature of just 67 degrees is very acceptable and an idle temperature of 49 degrees is also very impressive.
Thanks to the much larger heatsink and fan used on the GeForce 9800 GTX, it was considerably cooler than the otherwise similar GeForce 8800 GTS 512.
