Cougar 600M Gaming Mouse

Cougar currently has three mice available and the 600M is its mid-range offering. Interestingly the 600M is said to have been designed specially to suit gamers with a claw grip. That being said, we bet small-handed palm grip users would be comfortable as the 600M is bigger than most claw grip mice we've seen.

Measuring 125mm long, 80mm wide and 42mm tall it is quite a bit larger than the claw grip Aorus Thunder M7. Despite the bigger size the 600M is a light mouse weighing just 90 grams and there isn't any kind of weight system here.

Whereas the Aorus Thunder M7 was designed specifically for MMO games, the Cougar 600M is said to be able to tackle FPS, MMORPG, MOBA and RTS titles. As a fan of RTS and FFS games I can confirm that the 600M works very well here.

The 600M supports a 1000Hz / 1ms polling rate, a 12000 frame rate, a maximum tracking speed of 150 IPS and maximum acceleration of 30G. It also comes with a 1.8m braided cable which features a gold-plated USB connector. It is also worth pointing out that the 600M is available in black or a funky orange color.

Although the 600M is cheaper than the 700M, we don't feel it is a cheaper mouse. Rather, much like the 600K keyboard, it simply sheds the features some gamers may find unnecessary.

The 600M still uses premium components such as Omron switches and the ADNS-9800 sensor. The switches are guaranteed for five million clicks so you should wear out more than a few mouse pads on the way. The laser sensors 8200 DPI rating should guarantee flawless performance.

The 32-bit ARM processor provides virtually instantaneous responses and 512KB on-board storage allows gamers to save up to 3 profiles directly to the mouse. In total, the 600M can store up to 30 different functions with most of them being comfortably accessible from the mouse itself by using the mode cycle button (to change to the next mode) or the instant mode switch (to temporarily switch modes while the key is being pressed).

Anesthetically, the 600M is stylish and has a unique feature in that the left mouse button is a floating key with a big LED backlight that can display up to 16.8 million colors. The entire mouse is also coated in a premium quality soft touch surface which provides excellent grip and a nice feel.

The 600M is also packed with a broad range of features, with eight fully configurable buttons including a 45º sniper button designed to be pressed without affecting the mouse's movements. A crucial feature is the on-the-fly DPI adjustment buttons which allow gamers to select one of four pre-sets. Each pre-set is indicated by 4-stage LED display so you know exactly which DPI setting has been selected.

Underneath the 600M you will find that ADNS-9800 sensor smack bang in the middle and four large high-quality mouse feet for a smooth gaming experience.

Another key point is the 600M's compatibility with the Cougar UIX System and Cougar Fusion, which allows for easy configuration of all the device's functions, mode synchronization, macro sharing and many other features that provide the user with extra synergies if this device is used with other Cougar Fusion devices such as the 600M Keyboard.

Keeping that in mind let's check out the UIX System in greater detail...
