Hi - I am a Newbie

I joned this forum to become knowledgable enough to attempt to build a desktop system. I have done this before but it was years ago, and in the age of technology If you are not constantly involved you become antiquated. I need to know what motherboard I should start with as my foundation. I am building for the future so something with a great bus and the proper socket for a cpu that is not going to become quickly out-of-date is something I am searching for. A motherboard with numerous USB ports, firewire, and with WIFI/LAN capabilities is also something I would like to include in my configuration. Any help I can get on this would be appreciated.

Thanks
