Computer Was Working Fine But Overnight It Went Off. When You Hit The Power Button To Turn It On, All That Comes On And Stays On Is The Little Orange Light Under The Power Button, The Light That Flashes When You Are Working.the Light Is Not Blinking But Stays On Solid Orange. I Cannot Hear Any Sounds At All Like Anything Running. If Someone Could, Please Help.
The Computer Is Running Windows Xp

The T-1742 is one of those that has the suddenly failing motherboards, which others on this list will blame on the power supply. Your CPU hard drive, memory, vidoe card, ethernet card, and modem will usually still be good... but you might want to read the info on the eMachines forums. A Replacement board is $159.95 at eMachines.
Look at the little round barrel-like components near the CPU. Do they look swollen, have rounded tops, or are any split down the side? Do you see any browning rusty colored powder anywhere on your mother board. Does touching components make your fingers a rusty color?
Sometimes the second largest chip on the board (after the CPU) will pull out at its corners. You can sometimes actually feel that the corner pins are loose and wobbly.
You may also detect a burnt odor... or a funny smell when you get your head into the opening of the case.
Rarely can anything be fixed.
Read the eMachines info on this forum.
