I just bought a notebook Lenovo G450 and I had drivers not found problem. My OS is Windows XP SP2. In Device Manager, there are four "Audio Device on High Definition Audio Bus" device with exclamation mark. Below is the link to the screenshot of my device manager (pardon me, you have copy-paste the link manually since my post count is still below 5 so I cannot post link/image here):

http : // i45.tinypic.com/if7whc.jpg

There is no sound problem since I had successfully installed the sound driver from lenovo (The name is "Conexant High Definition SmartAudio 221" as you can see on the screenshot above) and the sound is working without problem. I also had installed Microsoft UAA Bus Driver before installing the sound driver.

I had tried installing realtek and nvidia high definition audio driver and all required drivers from lenovo (http : // consumersupport.lenovo.com/en/DriversDownloads/drivers_list.aspx?CategoryID=370748), but still no avail. The four yellow exclamation marks is still exist.

So I need help to identify what actually are the devices that shown as "Audio Device on High Definition Audio Bus"? And where can I get the driver for that devices?

These are the device IDs:
HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10DE&DEV_000B&SUBSYS_10DE0101&REV_1001\5&15CAAF27&0&000 1
HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10DE&DEV_000B&SUBSYS_10DE0101&REV_1001\5&15CAAF27&0&010 1
HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10DE&DEV_000B&SUBSYS_10DE0101&REV_1001\5&15CAAF27&0&020 1
HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10DE&DEV_000B&SUBSYS_10DE0101&REV_1001\5&15CAAF27&0&030 1
I already searched the device ID with google, but cannot found any information about them.

Thank you in advance.

I finally found the TSST Win Inquiry tool to determine it was really called a "TSST corpCDDVDW TS-H653N"
I probably don't need drivers for my optical drive but it wouldn't work at all until I fooled with it for weeks and applied a firmware update, which I was able to find.
It is workng now, but driver is Microsoft 2001 and doesn't display correctly in Device manager.
Google of TS-H653N turned up a driver (ts-h653n-driver.2.4.1.zip) at:
http://www.bioticaindia.com/. I tried to register yesterday to two e-mails and haven't gotten an activation from either one so I could download this driver.

Finally to my question, does anyone know where to find this driver.

Understanding Device Drivers and Filters

(Or my original title: "What the heck is a Windows Filter? And why you should care to know!")
This post provides an introduction to help understand Windows drivers and filters
....> To learn how to easily view and get info about flters on your computer see [post=815752]"How to Find/View Filter Drivers on Your Computer"[/post]
....> For help to fix filter problems see [post=815753]"CD/DVD or Disk Problems? How to Fix Problems Caused by Filters"[/post]

It can be pretty darn frustrating when you have a Windows device that refuses to work
Does this sound familiar?
....> You have a hardware problem. You look in Device Manager to check devices
....> You see the problem device listed and its entry has a yellow icon. (The icon indicates a driver error. The device isn't working properly)
....> You uninstall/reinstall the driver. You Disable/Enable the device. Yet no matter what you do the driver error won't go away!

A possible (and often over-looked) cause of this problem is missing or corrupt filter drivers! (more simply called "filters")

Filters are optional driver components. They're added to augment a driver's functionality. But fact is

They don't always work. They can become corrupt or filter files go missing
Bad filters can cause driver error codes and/or simply cause the device to not work right!
The existence of filters is "non-obvious". Which is why filter related problems can be easily overlooked
Symptoms of Filter Driver Problems
Symptoms include:

Devices (such as disks and CD/DVDs) that appear in Device Manager but not in My Computer or Explorer
Computer can't detect a CD/DVD or can't write to writable media
USB devices (such as iPods and Disks) that don't seem to get detected
> Note there are still many other reasons for undetected USB devices
> So try fixing filters but don't get hung up on filters as "must be" the cause
A persistent driver error code for disks, CD/DVDs or Sound/Media cards equal to: 10, 19, 31, 32 or 39
> To see the error code in Device Manager, rt click the device and look on the General tab

Device Driver Overview
To understand filters, we'll start with an overview and define some terminology

A device driver is software. The driver allows a Windows program to "talk" to a hardware device thus allowing the program (and you) to use and take full advantage of all the device functions

Programs <=========> Device Driver <===========> Hardware Device

Windows provides a "layered" approach to device drivers (ever since Windows 2000). While you may think of a device driver as a single "thing" (probably because you're used to seeing one single line entry per device driver in Device Manager) that single "thing" actually consists of one or more pieces (i.e. "layers")
(see figure below and continue reading)

Figure: Data Flow through a Windows Driver
> The device driver (including all its optional "layers") is in yellow
> Optional filters are represented as dashed ovals

The Function Driver vs. Upper and Lower Filter Drivers
A Windows device driver consists of

A single (and required) function driver
> This is the device's main driver
Zero or more (optional) filters
> Filters intercept (and may modify) device I/O data Request Packets (IRPs) before and/or after the function driver processes them

Upper filters first intercept data requests before the function driver
>> Upper filters typically provide added-value features for a device (examples later)
Lower filters first intercept data requests after the function driver
>> Lower filters typically modify the behavior of the device hardware
>> This may include translating proprietary communication into a standard language for the main driver

Device Name vs. Device Class
A filter can be installed for a specific device or device class. Every hardware device has a device name and belongs to a Windows device class
> The device name uniquely identifies the hardware device
> The device class indicates the type of device

Here's a few examples of pre-defined Windows device classes
CDROM : DVD/CD-ROM drives
DiskDrive : Disk drives
Display : Display adapters
Keyboard : Keyboards
MEDIA : Sound, video and game controllers
Mouse : Mice and other pointing devices
Net : Network adapters
Device Filters vs. Class Filters
Filters can be installed and applied to a single device or applied to all devices of the same class

A device filter is device specific. It's applied to a single and specific device
While a class filter is applied to every device in the class
> So, a single class filter for class= DiskDrive is applied to and will affect every disk on the computer!
It's the class filters that can cause device problems! as they're typically from 3rd party vendors. Example

You install a data backup product
The product MIGHT install a class filter to intercept all the I/O to all your disk drives
That single 3rd party class filter might not work well with one or more of your disks (and the disk's device driver)
You can uninstall/reinstall all your disk drivers till kingdom come!
> For this case, the problem with your disk doesn't go away till you finally uninstall and fix the disk drive class filter!
Examples of Filters

Keyboard Upper Class Filter
A keyboard upper filter may implement additional security checks and provide enhanced functionality when it intercepts, and possibly modifies the IRPs as they pass between an application or OS/module and the keyboard's function driver

Keyboard Lower Class Filter
A Keyboard lower filter may intercept physical keystrokes to "clean-up" the key presses sent between the keyboard hardware and its function driver.

You may have only pressed the hardware key once, but internally, the key press may have made repeated physical electrical contact within a few milliseconds, sending more than one signal when only one was intended
A lower filter can recognize and clean-up the un-intended behavior, change the data stream received from the hardware and only forward 1 keystroke to the function driver
From the end-user's perspective, they only see a one key-press response. For the user, it looks like a simple one press per one character response

Notes About the Keyboard Filter Examples

Note how a "layered" approach to device drivers makes it easy to swap-out and change filter functionality
> E.g. in above examples, simply change a filter to change how security is being applied or how multi-press keystrokes are handled
In the keyboard example, note that a simple change to upper filters can affect how security is applied to a keyboard and its standard device driver.
> The filter change (and change in security) could be implemented without ever changing and no need to modify the keyboard function driver itself

Yet whenever I try to update the driver, whether its to a more recent version or a slightly older one, my monitor will go blank after the windows splash screen. I recently had some other issues with my PC, but those were related to RAM and at this point I have updated the RAM and the blue screens from that have gone away. I was hoping that doing that would fix this issue, but obviously it has not. What might be causing this problem and how do I go about fixing it?

I suppose I should also mention that this is only when booting windows normally, I can still access safe mode perfectly fine.

Hello,

I'm trying to find a driver for the AT&T/Yahoo DSL disk. There isn't a version number, so I can't give you specifics, unfortunately. Anyways, I'm trying to help some family members of mine load their Ethernet card that they got with the disk from AT&T. Without the driver for the Ethernet card, they cannot connect to the Internet, as the modem won't recognize that there is a computer on the network and vice versa. The operating system is Windows XP. If you need anymore information, or anything at all to help me out then please don't hesitate. Ha. Ha.

Thank you anyone for any support on this matter,

Tyler

P.S. In case you're wondering why I don't just take it from the disk itself. Well, currently, I can't seem to get the XP driver to work from disk.

regarding the above subject. However, the 3117 driver didn't agree to work for me when I installed it the regular way.
I finally found a solution, and I write it here as a thank you to this forum for helping me.
What you have to do is:
1. download the 3117 driver and unzip it to a folder.
2. Plug in your 3116 and turn it on. Windows 7 will automatically recognize it as 3116, but will not find a driver.
3. Now write click on the device -> properties -> hardware -> select the phaser and click porperties.
4. Select update driver -> select from a list in my computer -> printers -> have disk -> select the 3117 driver
5. Everything's working!

My system:
AMD Athlon 7750 Dual core (2.7 gig)
AS Rock K10N78FullHD- HSLI R3.0 AM2+ Socket Motherboard
Windows 7 x64 Home Premium
BIOS vsn: P1.90

Under device manager, the coprocessor is listed as: 'The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28) There is no driver selected for the device information set or element'. Windows update doesn't find it.

I have downloaded the 'All in one' driver from ASrock website, which includes:

Ethernet Driver (v73.10) WHQL
Network Management Tools (v73.13) "Sedona"
SATAIDE Driver (v11.1.0.30) WHQL
SATARAID Driver (v11.1.0.30) WHQL
RAIDTOOL Application (v11.1.0.30)
SMBUS Driver (v4.69) WHQL
SMU Driver (v1.71) WHQL
GPU Driver (v186.34) WHQL
PhysX (v9.09.0428)
Away Mode Driver (v6.0.6000.111) WHQL
Installer (v7.53)

much of which I dont think I need/ is already on there and wouldn't know how to install anyway (do you just look for the .exe setup files?).

ASrock's website also lists BIOS updates and Tmagic650 said this might be needed to 'see' the coprocessor. Problem is, which version: the latest vsn 2.10 is described as 'update code for MAC address'. vsn 2.0 is listed as 'update CPU code'. The next one, vsn 1.90 is mine. There are also 2 downloads for each vsn: DOS and Windows- I assume I should use the Windows one and folow their installation guidelines?

Sorry for the long post, but as you can tell, I need all the help I can get. Any advice appreciated.

Hi all,

after three days of reading through forums and trying out different things, I finally decided to post a thread myself, as none of the posted solutions worked for me.

My problem:
My webcam suddenly frooze while using it with skype. That happened sometimes before alreday. Usually it works again after clsong the video connection and starting it again. This time after clsoing my video connection, the button for video calling disappeared and I got a message at the bottom right corner of my screen that I have a USB connection problem. At the same time, I was updating windows vista.

Specifications:
Asus X55sv notebook
built-in 1.3 MP Chicony 2.0 USB webcam
Vista Home SP2

Notes:
- Can't find an imaging device in device manager any more. However, one USB port is unidentified. It says no drivers are uploaded for this product, but it also says that this device is wirking correctly (I'm not sure whether this has anything to do with the problem).
- Several tries of installing different camera drivers always failed.
- System restore to a point before I did the vista update failed.
- However, when using programms like Driver Max to identify the hardware, a webcam is found, but no specifications are given.
- I had this problem before when I bought the notebook ~2 years ago. But then, it could be fixed by installing the latest drivers.
- The energy settings I'm using on my notebook do not allow USB ports to go to sleep mode in order to save energy.

Any help (apart from reinstalling the OS and sending the notebook back to asus) is highly appreciated.

Many thanks!

I have a Dell Studio 540 desktop running Window's Vista Home Premium and I'm trying to install a Canon Pixma MP190 printer/scanner. Right now, it only shows up as a Canon Pixma MP190 series scanner. When I make another attempt at adding the device, it shows up as a Xerox WorkCentre Pro Scanner. I've tried disconnecting then reconnecting the printer, uninstalling then reinstalling and every possible shut-down and restart sequence I could think of. When I went to the Canon website, the only option i had for a driver was the Driver Robot, which is their auto scan driver installer, and it didn't pick up the printer then, either. Even the driver from this site was a no-go as it was meant for a 32-bit system, which mine isn't, apparently. There is also no communication between the computer and printer. I've tried everything I can think of to get some interaction, but nothing has come of it. What should I do? I bought the printer about 18 months ago and the computer about 9 months ago. They both are fairly new. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Sincerely,
Al

fyi -I Installed Windows 7 32-bit Home version on Saturday. Windows 7 installed a generic VGA drive for the ATI Mobility Radeon X300 video card.

Two days of struggles with trying to find a driver that would install - my performance rating overall was 1.0 due to the generic VGA driver. I visited the Dell and ATI's websites - tried to install several upgrades from ATI's site - nothing worked or installed.

Then this evening I went into the Windows Automatic updates, and there downloaded just today on my PC, was the X300 driver for my 32-bit version of Windows 7. I installed the update, now the performance rating on this old laptop is 3.1. (I have a 60 gb hard drive and expanded RAM to 2 GB) Aero works great.

The Windows 7 automatic update installed today was:
ATI Technologies Inc. - Display - ATIMOBILITY RADEON X300

Good Luck.

I thought its caused by graphics driver but i am not sure...thats why i ask help here. I run on Windows vista home premium 32-bit. Also i checked the video card inside and i found that info from there : RX2600 - T2D256EZ/D2 so it should be ATI radeon 2600 pro. well i downloaded the latest ATI display driver but it still keeps crashing...well not crashing but the screen just goes black and i cant do anything.
-Windows XP pro SP3
-Intel Core 2 Duo E6750
-Abit IP35PRO(P35+ICH9R)
-2gig DDR2 dual channel corsair RAM
-Nvidia Gforce 9800 GTX/GTX+ using driver 6.14.11.7824

The first issue is that I have been having frequent BSODs while gaming, and at times even on start up, however those only occur following a previous BSOD.

For an example of such here is the first BSOD from event viewer followed by the second.

My second issue which may or may not be related is that with that above mentioned windows update (the september one) on my computer while gaming my screen would become covered with artifacts and the game would show up as pink and messed up is the only way I can describe it. Alt-tabbing fixed that issue, however it took about 1min to alt-tab out of the game. This issue occurred with WoW, Aion, and WC3.

So I thought that updating my graphics drivers would resolve it. However when I updated my drivers after the windows splash screen my monitor was blank. Safe Mode worked fine, and thinking the update was to blame for my failure to upgrade drivers I rolled back and tried to update again, however I got the same result.

As I said I am not sure if these issues are related, but any help you can give me into either of them would be greatly appreciated.
