Hi everyone!

I recently bought a Laptop of eBay here in the UK. The Laptop is the HP Pavilion dv3505ea.

Now basically the seller said the laptop is fully working, I put the game BMW M3 Challenge but when I load it the screen goes black/blank and I can not get out of it and back into Windows unless I hard force the laptop off. The laptop has a Nvidia GeForce 9300M GS graphics card. The laptop has Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit

I tried the same game on my fathers Laptop a HP G60-217EM. He has got a Nvidia GeForce 8200M, which I believe is a lower end graphics card and it worked perfectly. His Laptop has got Windows Vista Home Basic 32-bit.

Can anyone help me please, I want to know if it is a fault with the graphics card or Vista before I leave feedback for the seller on eBay.

Many Thanks in advance

Hello everyone. Well, as said on title, I got no sound on computer. I have a Compaq Presario SR1834NX. Last night for some reason computer restarted by itself and when Windows started, bang, no more sound. It will make the starting sound of Win XP but a few seconds later it will disappear. I've tried installing the Realtek AC'97 driver but nothing happened, tried to restore the system and didn't let me restore it. I have some important information here on this computer and I would like not to format it. I read that there was a solution in the setup menu something about load optimized but couldn't find it. Without further information, I would appreciate the help. Thank you very much.

Hello all,
My daughter's dimension 4600, had worked for 3 years without a problem, then one day it just would not boot up. After a lot time reading advices on forums I removed the nvidea FX 5200 and tried to boot again. It will boot and I have to go into Safe Mode, however the screen is hard to read and sometimes the computer will not load my keyboard. So I purchased another Nvidea, same model, downloaded the new driver and fixes vrom their website. Well, that did not solve the problem. Of course I even tried Dell support (why, I can't imagine). Was told that I needed a new motherboard? The diagnostic lights on the rear panel, are all green, although I have had times where one or two would go amber on me. Conclusion: I now have 2 video graphic cards and a computer that will not boot with it instaled. Please help.

so wht sort of gfx upgrade is most ideal for me ? eg:- i can afford up to HD 4850 but if i can play it well on a cheaper card it will be an advantage. btw i might also need a psu upgrade since the one i'm using is a generic brandless one :D

It's time to have a small upgrade on my 6 year system; it served me very well and I rarely had any issues. I'm just looking forward to get most out of it, currently it has these components:

Motherboard : Albatron KX600
Processor : AMD Athlon XP 2500+ (1.8 MHz)
Videocard : GeForce FX 5200 (256 MB)
RAM : 2x 512MB
Power Supply : Antec SL400 400W

The MoBo has its integrated network adapter, and sound card, and I have no problem with either. Unfortunately, it does not support PCI-e cards.

I mainly use it to play games like WoW or Counter-strike with all the effects on lowest. Its main function over the time devolved into just playing games as I work and watch DVDs mainly on my laptop.

I've recently observed more problems in crowded instances when playing WoW, and also I'm looking forward to play a little more graphically advanced games (not the most high-end ones, though). I think, a system with a 2.4+ MHz CPU and 2 GB with a decent 2-3 year old GPU should do fine.

However, I'm very low on budget (100$-150$) and I don't need additional component upgrades/replacements such as a new soundcard and a network adapter, therefore I'm thinking perhaps I should keep my MoBo and CPU intact and just go for GPU and RAM upgrades.

1) Should I upgrade my GPU and RAM with a Radeon HD4650 1GB/128MB AGP (around 75$) and a 2x 1GB DDR 400 SDRAM (around 45$), how much of a bottleneck will my CPU cause especially when playing a CPU dependent game like WoW? How much would such an upgrade improve the current performance, if any? I just hope to play WoW at max.

2) Will my power supply be able to handle an Radeon HD4650 (which also requires 400W), I also have a DVD-ROM and a CD-ROM connected to my system - I can ditch out either or both when not using if it will help any? Will the GPU just not run at all, or will it work on a lower rate and not use its full capacity?

3) Given my budget limitations, what alternative upgrades would you recommend? Is there a better balanced MoBo/CPU/GPU/RAM/PSU combination you can think of that may cost around 150$-200$ if a better upgrade is absolutely necessary? I've considered to purchase and overclock an Athlon XP 3200+ to get around 2.4 MHz processing capability, but it seems like it may cost me another 75$ and I'm not sure if it's worth it.

4) Finally, my MoBo supports 3x 1GB, yet in its manual it recommends only 2 DDR 400 1GB RAMS at once, and not all three at the same time. Why is there such a limitation and what kind of performance issues would I have if I installed 3x 1GB? Would I get 3GB, a little less than 3GB or just 2GB? What kind of a setup should use if I want more than 2 GB from this MoBo?

Thanks for reading, and I appreciate any help.

My Dilemma:

I have 2 sets of speakers plugged in to my computer - one set in the speaker jack, the other in the line in (switched to rear output).
Until recently, everything worked fine, however now I am only getting sound from the right speakers from both jacks. There is no fault in any of the speakers. I've tried with only one set plugged in, and with them switched round - same result. Also the same result when I use headphones plugged in to the headphone jack at the front of my pc.

Device manager has indicated no fault in any drivers.

Sorry for the cross post but I'm not sure whether I have a cpu or graphics card problem.

Ok So I built this computer nearly 2 years ago and it's generally been very good.

Yesterday when i was putting the system under a lot of stress it decided to turn off and when turned back on it said that the cpu had overheated. So I thought I'd tread carefully and only use it for a little while and then put some more thermal paste on the chip and clean any dust out of the heatsink.

I did this and re-seated the heatsink and now when I turn on the computer th e monitor says no signal and sometimes now after about 20 seconds the computer turns itself off. The monitor saying no signal is always happening.

I have:

Q6600
Asus P5B-VM SE
ati HD2900XT
Enermax 650 noisetaker I
Win xp
2gb corsair ram
Maxtor 500gb HD

Literally all I did was take the heatsink off, clean it, add new paste and put it back on, nothing else in the computer was interfered with. Has the graphics card mysteriously decided to pack up even though it said the cpu was overheating?

I'm at a loss - I've made sure everything is in properly and taken steps to stop cpu overheating.

Thanks in advance guys.

Hey all. So I got a new computer a few months ago, a custom build, and it's basically been awesome thus far, except that there's sort of a constant low-level of audio static being produced. The little display on the volume control picks it up, so it's definitely something that the sound card is detecting rather than a connection problem, and anyway it affects both front and rear audio jacks. The sound seems to change and grow louder when my computer is doing something display-wise or even just something intensive (I've noticed it "blink" with a flashing IM window). It's not normally a problem because it's very low volume--however I have some rather low volume music, and this makes listening to it a pain.

Now, from some preliminary research I'm fairly certain that this is my sound card picking up nearby noise or electrical signals passing around it or something of that nature. The relevant computer specs are as follows:

Intel Core i7 Quad Processor i7-920 8MB 1366 CPU
Asus P6TSE X58 Core i7 Motherboard
TRIPLE CHANNEL 12GB (6x2GB) DDR-3 1333MHZ PC3-10600
1TB 1000GB SATA2 7200rpm 16MB CACHE
nVidia GeForce 9400GT 1GB DVI/HDTV PCI-Express Video Card
REALTEK 8-CHANNEL DIGITAL SOUND ONBOARD

I also had them do professional "round" wiring which supposedly helps airflow and keeps the inside of the machine neater, if that's relevant.

I spoke with the tech support of the people I bought the computer from, and was told that my diagnosis about the sound card picking up noise was more or less correct--but because it's an onboard sound card the only options are buy a separate sound card or replace the whole motherboard (which is covered by the warranty, but is kind of a lot of trouble and I'm not sure if they'd cover shipping costs). So what I'd like to ask all of you is:

1) -Are- those the only two options? Since the sound card is onboard, it can't just be swapped into another slot away from what's making noise, I know, but is it possible that whatever's making noise can be stopped some other way?

2) Should I be concerned about the motherboard anyway, assuming that this is an unusual occurrence? Does this suggest that there's something amiss with the hardware in general, or is it not uncommon for onboard sound cards to have static?

3) Is a separate sound card just a good idea in general, as someone who dabbles in fan-dubbing and whatnot?

Thanks for any advice you may be able to offer.

Ok. I just got an upgrade from Vista to Windows 7, plus I wanted to play Maple better on my crappy Slimline HP s3100n computer so I bought this card. Mine is exactly the same but the 256MB model. Everything went perfect for like around 1month.

Computer specs link ---> h t t p://h10025.w w w1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01053975&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&product=3440586&lang=en

One day I turned on the pc , only to find out it didn't show any display on the monitor, so I restarted but nothing seemed to change. I looked at the connection on the back of the pc (DVI to VGA adapter) but eveything was good. No beeps, all fans working, nothing loose. So I had to change the monitor connection to the one on the motherboard and it worked. When I logged in, I noticed the PC slower so the 1st thing I did was to check for the Video card in device manager, and It was not being displayed. So now I had a bigger problem. Unistalled the latest drivers from nVidia and reinstalled them, went to a previous restore point , around 4 days back, but nothing. I even went into the BIOS to change the main video adaptar to PCI-E and to default settings, nothing. So im thinking, "the fan spins, at least is getting power", so at this point I don't know if is the PCI-E slot, the card, drivers, BIOS or what the hell.

I went on to a friend's house to check the card, but same thing happened, well a little worse. The card was getting power (fan spin) but the card wouldn't display anything and if we changed the connection back to the VGA slot on the motherboard it wouldn't work either. The only time the PC could display anything was to boot it with out the card installed.

Back at my house I installed the card and went to sleep. In the morning I turn on the pc and WTF? The VGA slot in the motherboard now doesn't work now, so the 1st thing I do is to put the adapter and try the video card slot and works. GREAT! ..But only for 1 day, I turned on the PC in the morning just to find out the same thing happends. No display from the card, and not detected by the system and fan spins.
Only one new thing comes to my mind, the power supply might not be enough to handle the card, since it says it neads a 350w power supply and mine's 160w, but why would it work for several weeks and then not?

Any help?

]Hello.

Apologies for the long post! I hope this is in the right area, and that someone might know what is wrong with my card.

I recently bought a PC from Zoostorm, and I've been happy with it so far as it's such an upgrade from the last one I had. I was also pleased that it contained an ATI card, as I'd had a few problems with Nvidia in the past. But recently things haven't been going so good, and no matter how many searches I do I can't seem to find someone with the same problem as me. I'm running a 4870, and from what I've read on it, it appears to be particularly buggy, but I'm praying somewhere out there is a solution. It would be such a shame to have to change it as it's less than a month old.

I play a lot of WoW and I've experienced two freezes. I'm not sure if the music is still playing as I never have it on anyway, and I didn't think at the time to check if it was affected. I couldn't tab out, so had to reboot both times.

Another problem I've had appears to be connected to tabbing out of the game, and may be set off by my character being AFK for a few minutes. I'll suddenly discover my cursor has disappeared and I'll tab out hoping to correct the issue, only to find my desktop has been replaced with a black screen, but several menus can be seen opening and closing, namely the start menu. My tab bar will be at the top of the screen. I can click on the start icon, but nothing happens. I've only ever been able to ctrl, alt + del twice, and have had to shut off WoW in the process screen. All other times I've had to reset my computer.

This problem has also occurred outside of WoW once. I literally came back from the bathroom to find a black screen and have no idea what set it off. I had come out of a game a while before, but had been happily browing the web before the problem occurred.

I intially thought that it might be a heat problem, as I remember an Nvidia card suffering some weird graphical glitches that were caused by heat, but this doesn't seem to be the problem. I downloaded a little vista gadget that monitors my card and have been watching it closely. It never rises above 48C, and I've only ever seen its fan come on once.

I'm at a loss at to what to do. I do have a 4670 I could replace it with, but I'm guessing I'd forfeit my warranty by replacing a part. I've tried updating drivers, but everything seems to be fine and I'm currently running Catalyst 9.6, which I think is the latest.

If anyone has any idea, or even if someone has experienced the same problem, I'd love to hear it! Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

Now I would like to know if that has anything to do with Multimedia Audio Controller?

I had to RMA a friend's video card and xfx didn't send the exact card in exchange, so I'm wondering which card would be better as the primary adapter. The card they sent back is a standard edition 9500GT with 512MB vram and 550mhz core clock. The other card on the table is an older 8600GT XXX edition with a faster core clock but only half the onboard vram.

Which should I install as the primary card or would it even matter/work? Both cards are around the same performance but I'm not sure what would be better. I'm thinking the 9500GT since it's newer and has the most vram but the 8600GT is a tad faster.

I will probably try both configurations but I'd like some input first in the mean time, thanks!

Hello.
Got a Dell Inspiron 1150, had to reformat the HD.' Installed windows XP pro, and I have no sound. I go to control panel and I see no sound card at all... Strange, Reboot and in Bios there is a sound card ( Sigmatel 9750- C-Major Audio)
Go back to Dell support, download the correct( and only one file there) audio driver.
Try to install and get a message that there is no sound card found... Go back to manually install sound card and rely on the file I downloaded for the .inf file, and get a sound card installed, but with a yellow ex sign on it. Try to install drivers again, and get the same error... No card installed...
Anyone can help?

I have done everything to try and keep this video card cooler, cleaned the fan, applied new thermal compound and I also opened the back off a PCI slot that isn't being used. It idles at 46 degrees and when it's under load it's around 60 degrees. I can't play a single game for over an hour without it giving me "no dvi input" and forces me to restart my whole pc. I have no idea what this graphics card problem is. It's a PNY 9600gt. Please someone enlighten me what i'm doing wrong or is the card garbage?
