i have read through various posts within techspot regarding the PAGE_FAULT error messages and to be honest most of it is whey whey over my head   but 1 thing i my brain did manage to understand is that minidumps are quite useful in these circumstances :grinthumb so ive included the most recent 1's for someone hopefully to ponder over .

many many thx in advance :D

gigabyte ga-8ipe1000 motherboard
intel p4 3.2 ghz
2gb ram
ati radeon 9550
600 gb hds
emu 1820m

i dont think the rar containing minidumps has successfully uploaded :(
pls will some 1 let me know if they havent ??
im a bit new to the forum thing and im unsure how to do things properly atm
pls bear with me .. thx :)

:grinthumb

harhar managed :)

This forum accept zip file as attachment but each attachment must not exceed 100MB. Zip 5 to 5 minidumps and attach the zip files here. Some experts may investigate your minidumps.

I've studied your minidumps and they are crashed at nt!ExDeferredFreePool. Faulty RAM is the culprit.

Suggestion
1. Reseat memory stick to another memory slot
2. Downclock the RAM
3. Diagnostic which memory module is faulty if you have more than one memory module. (ie take out one of the memory stick. If it does not crash, the removed memory module is faulty)

i had a suspision it was that , i have 4 x 512 mb pc3200 , ill try what u have said and hopefully that will fix it . thx for that advice :))

I was just about to start swapping ram about when pc crashed again :( , this time there was no blue PAGE_FAULT screen , instead pc restarted itself and then proceeded to do NTFS ChkDsk thingy on my E drive , then a serious system fault msg again . do u still think it could be ram or possibly a partition problem on my hd ??? ive included minidump , if u could have a look at this , it would be greatly appreciated :))

thx again

:bounce: WOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOO :bounce:

dood i think u might of cracked it :haha:

i did ask u said , i checked each strip of ram individually , #1 , #2 , #3 seemed as if they were working , when i tried #4 , the 1st time i tried to boot pc i got a brief svchost.exe msg , it said something about cannot read memory ??? , it restarted itself , desktop came up , then it restarted again , then it tried 5 or 6 times to reboot , all unsuccessful .

so for good measure i tried #4 in a different slot , same again , unable to get onto desktop .

#1 , #2 , #3 are all back in now and so far no problems :bounce:

hats off to u mr.cpc dood , u sure know your sh!t , im just grateful there are ppl like u , who find time to help and assist us mere mortals , time and time again .

thx very much for helping me out , u dont realise how much i appreciate that :)

take care

Hi guys, I found this board searching through google after being rebooted twice this morning with the same PAGE_FALUT_IN_NOPAGED_AREA . I attach the minidumps from the saved logs, I can't open them not having dumpchk installed on my computer (and reading them would probably not help me very much indeed).
Time ago I verified my RAM with a proper software (unfortunately I can't remember what software I only remember I had to boot from a floppy) and the result was OK.

I've got W2k PRO
DDR 184 pin 512 MB PC2100 A-Data memory
845PE MAX2-SR mother board SOcket 478 i845PE Bus = 533MHz 3xDDR333 SATA ATA133
DiamondMax Plus 9 80 GB HD
Pentium 4 2.4GHz Bus 533 MHz box
CPU Intel Pentium

I hope you could give me any suggestion.
Bye and thanks.

Hi smodato,

It is software error at fsavp.sys and your version is 5 years behind.

Thanks for your reply,
did you check all of the dumps or just one? Do you mean the antivirus was the cause for all (or at least 90%) of my errors?
If this is the reason I will immediately take a proper action.
Thanks very much again.

One more question, where did you read this info and what could I do to read the same thing on myself? I mean should I installa something like windows debugger? Where can I get the installation package?
Thanks, bye

And another one here, I have the same antivirus on another computer, on that one it happens sometimes that the system reboots but with no blue window, it simply reboots, I find nothing in the events nor any memory dump file, could there be a related cause or should it be a completely different matter?
Sorry for the many question but after having puzzled around for a long time in the dark i see the light at last.

I can't format the stack trace of your minidump because your W2K has the latest patch. Your PC crashes with bugcheck 50 and it is very consistent. From the unformatted stack trace, I find the footprint of fsavp.sys. BTW your antiv-virus is 5 years behind. You had better to upgrade anti-virus software.

What actually happens on the computer? The "old" or "out of date" software (antivirus in this case) creates conflict with the system and caused the crash? Does this happen whenever the guilty software makes any action? (AV is always monitoring so it is normal for it to take action).
When you speak about the latest patch of W2k what do you mean exactly? is your inspection software older so newly formatted files can't be opened? What if I install on my PC the same software, would it work to inspect all the files (I'd avoid to hope for a solution and leave some other potential issues around so it would be nice to take a peek in all the minidumps).
Thanks and bye.

Hi Smodato,

If you think an anti-virus developing at five years is no need to upgrade, it is your decision. Post your question to microsoft and request them to fix your problem if you think it is microsoft problem.

You should ask how IBM windbg cannot format the stack trace. This is microsoft problem and not my problem.

I don't find any reason why I have to read all of your minidumps. Maybe some experts will all of your minidumps.

>>> Your expectatin is too much.
(I'd avoid to hope for a solution and leave some other potential issues around so it would be nice to take a peek in all the minidumps).

Well, I started immediately after your first reply to evaluate alternatives to my AV, I will install a new and updated AV during the week end. What I was asking was in order to learn how you debugged my problem and eventually how wide the problem could be related to presence in various dump files. I dowloaded windbg and installed it, unfortunately I was not able to get any satisfactory result being pretty ignorant in these things. I thank you again as you are the first person that addressed me to a solution after debugging.
Bye.

Smodato,

You've formated the minidump by yourself and you understand what I mean. Microsoft does not put your version of symbol files at its symbolic server. We cannot format the stack trace and you have to format the stack trace manually. Now you understand that windows debugging is not as easy as what you think. It is time consuming.

cpc2004

HI, just had another BSOD and here is the minidump, I ask you if you could at least look into this brand new one to detect if he cause may still be the old antivirus (which will disappear within sunday night!).
I also sent you a PM to get another info, no problem if that is not possible. Thanks, bye

Hi Smodato,

You are very demanding. I am worried that you will shoot me if antivirus is not the culprit. I can only provide my best answer to your problem and I cannot guranteer it is always correct. It is your judgement whether you accept my finding or not. If you check your system event 1001/1003, you will find all of the crashes are the same.

I have no doubts about your answer and no problem in changing the antivirus, ?,m not judging your help, I'm trying to figurre out how to solve a similar issue alone in the future in order to avoid bothering other people

This is hard to do , I have no idea where to look at unless you mean the "00050" error which is definitively the same

Hi Smodato,

I know you are very frustrate but you must aware that this is free forum. We use our free time to do the problem determination. Don't expect that we can give you immediate help and satisfactory answer. I always raise call to IBM and most of their replies are very slow even though our company pay the software maintenance.

I can tell you that your last minidump is the same as the previous minidump. I wonder why you get rid of anitvirus on Sunday and not now. Are you using firefox?

I'm using firefox (why?). I thank you for the tip on my last minidump, I fully appreciate your help and you are very fast indeed (actuallu I'd never expect so fast a reply in such a deep detail).
I use the computer from 7,30 am to 7 pm more or less, next thursday I'm gonna get married and so my free time is not that much these days, to disintall and install a software requires a little bit of time and concetration (I have 2 computers to act on) so I prefer to face it during the week end.
