Hi, I have a Dell Dimension 3100, and need a new graphics card that is capable of running Team Fortress 2 and Portal. At the moment I have an Integrated Graphics chip, which is 128mb, but I need a new one, as it is un-compatible with the games I listed. My computer has 1 PCI slot and a PCI-e x1 (I think)

So what would be the best option to run these games for £50 or less??

EDIT: Is this one any good?? http://www.google.co.uk/products/ca...cid=18324326243525763966&sa=button#ps-sellers

This one seems to be a PCI-E slot

This one is a bit blurred, but is another PCI slot, I think

This one , is to the right of the Slots, and looks weird, I don't recognise it...

The first one is a PCI-E slot, the second is a PCI slot, and the third is an IDE slot, for an IDE cable.

And yes, that card is among the best for PCI at the moment.

Ugh! Not much to work with really. Here's the motherboard and system specs for that system as listed by Dell:

I believe you'll need to use the pci-e x1 slot for any decent graphics on that system. There's only two cards listed on newegg.com for that slot. And they're a little more expensive than I thought. And they're both ATi cards, not nVidia.

You'd certainly be better off spending just a tad bit more and getting a new system from directron.com. I know you're thinking it's too expensive, but these days it's not. And from the looks of that Dell you got, you could use a serious upgrade. Check out the stuff Directron has and you'll see why it's better to go new than to upgrade old systems.

Just don't forget to add the cost of an operating system and you'll be good to go.
