I have a link to 'Chris's homepage stuck on mu start menu just below search and run.

I cant seem to find out how to be rid of it or how it got there.
Any Ideas?

It links me to quite an interesting site not porn or anything. Just info on how to use the internet.:(

Well unless it is hiding itself very well I cannot find it.
Even doing a search using the name and link failes to get a hit.

I suppose you could do it from registry - just search for "chris" and delete suspicious entries.

Tweaking programs (Xteq X-Setup) also let you choose which items are shown in Start Menu.

That would be my second reccomendation. It definitely is in the registry.

Can you take a screenshot of the link on your startmenu and post it? I'm curious to see exactly what you are seeing.

Thanks that got rid of it,
I deleted all the things with chris but it also identified a load of other things numbers etc and I was too scared to remove them.

Basically there was a line saying Chris's homepage just below the Help' search;run icons.
When I right clicked on it nothing happened if I left clicked it took me to the link mentioned before.

I really dont know how it got there.
But thanks for the replies.

Most likely you installed some piece of software, and it may have been by him or endorsed by him in some way. I doubt it asked you if it could put it there :D

oh my god iv been having exact problem!a mystery icon on the right of my start menu looks like a hidden system file sort of icon and says chris homepage.you cant right click to get any properties or nothing.im on xp and since thats been there my pc has been crashing constantly and its so slow.norton anti virus has vanished.i have spoke to one person at microsoft and he said its very likely that someone has got into my pc and chris homepage is some kind of keylog.can you please please tell me how you got rid of it??and did your pc slow down atal while it was there?

I would suggest trying to boot into safe mode and getting rid of it that way. Hopefully it won't load and you will be able to disable it and delete it. Then you should be able to install Norton again.

So you guys know you can also do this:

Start Menu>Settings>Taskbar and Startmenu>(startmenu tab)>Customize> * go from there *

;)
