Fan Speeds

Just installed a prog called speedfan on my Pentium 4. The prog defaults the fan to 100% which is really noisy. Usually I can't hear the pc. Any clues on what I should set the fan speed at.

I do know "if it ain't broke don't fix it" but I was curious at how hot the machine was.

Any help appreciated.

A few things to consider,,,Are you overclocking the CPU??,,do ya have temp sensor for the CPU? all things considerd its a trial and error thing,,keep the CPU under 45 Degrees centigrade. It may mean running fans at full speed,,but if its not staying kool turn it up.

wen playing games me system gets to around 50 degrees, i was wondering how you can speed up the system fan and if i did would it cool it down a bit. I have this 'Smart Docter' that came with my asus 9600 xt and that seems pretty cool, changes the graphics card fan speed according to how hot it is. Is there anything that can do this with my system fan?
